Our story
In November 2023, Thea brought to life her dream – Sally's, a family business deeply rooted in the values and passions cultivated throughout her upbringing.
The essence of Sally's emanates from Thea's lifelong love affair with baking, cooking, and the art of hospitality. This deep-seated passion found its roots in her grandmother, Sally, whose influence shaped Thea's culinary journey.
Sally, was not only a devoted mother but also an active member of the Women's Institute. Her bakes were legendary. In February 2023, Sally bid farewell, leaving behind a legacy.
Having spent the past decade honing her skills in the hospitality industry, Thea felt a calling to embark on a new chapter.
In tribute to her grandmother and driven by an unwavering passion, Thea took a leap of faith, materialising her dream by establishing Sally's, a coffee shop, deli and bakery that embodies the spirit of family, tradition, and heartfelt hospitality. Each cup of coffee, every freshly baked cake, is a celebration of Sally's legacy.
At Sally's, every customer becomes part of this family narrative, experiencing not just yummy flavours but the warmth of a legacy passed down through the hands and recipes of generations past. Sally's is not merely a coffee shop; it's a living tribute to family, love, and the timeless joy found in sharing a moment over a cup of coffee and a homemade cake and bite to eat.
Trained by the best..
In the last decade, Thea has moved within the hospitality industry. She initially commenced her journey in a village cafe - The Barn Scorton, transitioning to a well-established local gastro pub known as The Cartford Inn. Thea has also spent a season working as a chalet girl in the French Alps. A few years later, she embraced a bold career move by joining the prestigious three-star Michelin establishment, L’Enclume, Cartmel.
Here, she underwent comprehensive training, learning the art of providing exquisite customer service, gaining insights into the nuances of local and homegrown produce, and successfully completing a barista and sommelier course.
“Had a lovely visit today, the place is warm and inviting and the food is delicious. So much so we just had to take some of the cakes home with us. Will definitely return.”
